Network of the games industry

Gamecity Hamburg supports, connects and makes the gaming hub Hamburg visible. The aim is to improve the general conditions for companies and founders of the games value chain in the city, to support them in their further development and to anchor Hamburg in the public perception as one of the leading games locations in Germany.

Gamecity Hamburg is the contact point for Hamburg's games funding and also offers programs, events, and services in close cooperation with the games industry to strengthen local developers. At the same time, the exchange of knowledge within the sector and with other industries is promoted.

The promotion of young talent, the development of new formats that activate the strong network of games companies in the city, and internationalization are the focus of the location initiative's activities.

Since 2020, there has been a new prototype funding program in Hamburg, which supports the development of computer games with 400,000 euros per year. The new funding is intended to contribute to increasing the quality, market opportunities and diversity of computer games developed in Hamburg and, as start-up financing, to support founders, start-ups and companies.

Gamecity Hamburg will start an additional incubator program in 2020 to support game makers financially but above all with mentoring as well as workshops and coaching offers in the development of computer games.

The Gamecity Incubator Games Lift is a program for students, start-ups, and developers that offers start-up financing, workshops, coaching, and mentoring for the development of concepts for digital games.

The Gamecity Meetup is the regular meeting place for the games industry in Hamburg. Here everything revolves around networking and new cooperation opportunities. Each networking evening is preceded by an hour of Pitch and Match. A format for making new contacts in the games industry and beyond.

Games Lift Incubator

Der Gamecity Incubator Games Lift ist ein Programm für Studierende, Start-ups und Entwickler*innen, das Startfinanzierung, Workshops, Coaching und Mentoring für die Entwicklung von Konzepten für digitale Spiele und andere spielbezogene Dienstleistungen anbietet.

Bis zu fünf Teams werden drei Monate lang in einem Batch unterstützt. Neben einer finanziellen Unterstützung von bis zu 15.000 Euro und der Bereitstellung von Büroräumen in einem Co-Working Space, erhalten sie ein Workshop-Programm, das auf die Bedürfnisse von Spieleentwickler*innen zugeschnitten ist und es ihnen ermöglicht, ihre Kompetenzen in allen relevanten Bereichen der Spieleindustrie zu vertiefen.
